DOWNLOADABLE CAD MODELS

Original models,
documented honestly

These industrial-equipment models were created in Solid Edge and are available as digital downloads. This page records the modeling process, included formats and important limits so buyers can judge whether each model fits their intended use.

ABOUT THESE MODELS

Downloadable files backed by a documented practice record

The images below show original CAD practice work created by the site operator. The first model used the general external appearance of diaphragm pumps found through a public search as a reference. None of the three is presented as an official manufacturer model or a production drawing.

Times are approximate recollections of the practice sessions. They can vary greatly with detail level, reference quality and operator experience, so they are not universal estimating standards for other projects.

Scope notice

Dimensions, materials, pressure classes, electrical ratings and manufacturing tolerances were not validated. Do not use these exterior practice models for manufacturing, installation, operation or safety decisions.

MODEL 01

Motor-Driven Diaphragm Pump

Exterior equipment practice model

Tool
Solid Edge
Practice time
About 2 hours
Reference scope
General public-search appearance

This practice assembly combines a pump housing, circular front cover with repeated fasteners, coupling area and finned motor exterior. It had the simplest visible structure of the three and took the shortest session.

Visible modeling elements

  • Circular flange and repeated bolt pattern
  • Repeated cooling fins on the motor housing
  • Axial alignment between pump and motor

MODEL 02

Reflex-Type Level Gauge

Multi-part assembly practice model

Tool
Solid Edge
Practice time
About 3 hours
Model type
Multi-part exterior assembly

This model combines a long gauge body with repeated fasteners, end valves and flanges. Even with repeated parts, connection positions and directions had to stay aligned, and the session took about one hour longer than the pump model.

Visible modeling elements

  • Repeated covers and bolts along the body
  • End valves, handwheels and flange connections
  • Assembly orientation that must be checked despite visual symmetry

MODEL 03

Oil-Immersed Industrial Transformer

Large equipment concept model based on desalter-package references

Tool
Solid Edge
Practice time
About 4 hours
Model type
Large concept assembly

The exterior practice model includes the main tank, support structure, repeated cooling sections, top bushings and a cylindrical auxiliary tank. It contained the widest mix of visible parts and repeated geometry, resulting in the longest session.

Visible modeling elements

  • Several bushing sizes and repeated fasteners
  • Multiple repeated cooling sections on both sides
  • Overall proportioning of the body, upper tank, piping and frame

TIME COMPARISON

In this practice set, more visible complexity took more time

Practice modelApproximate timeVisible workload difference
Diaphragm pumpAbout 2 hoursTwo main bodies plus repeated bolts and fins
Reflex-type level gaugeAbout 3 hoursLong assembly, repeated fasteners and end valves
Desalter transformerAbout 4 hoursMore part types, repeated cooling sections and top accessories

These are three practice records from one person, not rules such as “a pump always takes two hours.” Real estimates also need reference quality, required level of detail, revision count, drawing deliverables and interference checking.

Keep CAD design fees separate from print production

The quote calculator treats hands-on time as recurring production work such as setup, part removal and finishing. One-time CAD modeling work is easier to explain when shown as a separate design charge.

Suggested structureOne-time design fee = actual modeling hours × chosen design rate + revision and file-preparation allowance

There is no universal hourly rate or revision allowance. Agree on deliverable formats, included revisions and usage rights before work begins.

For a multi-part order, show the design charge as a separate order item, or divide it across units only when that treatment has been agreed with the customer.

Files, license and limits

The linked product pages provide the listed Solid Edge, STEP and STL files. They are generic exterior-visualization models with approximate proportions, not manufacturer-certified models or fabrication drawings. Manufacturing dimensions, verified materials, performance data and certification information are not included.

Commercial use in end projects is allowed under the product license, but the original files may not be redistributed, resold, shared or repackaged.
